Welcome to theTea Ceremony Time!
My name is Sayaka Sakai, and I am the owner of the Tea Ceremony Time.
This tea room is a place where you can learn about the tea ceremony from various angles.
I would appreciate it if you could join me until the end.
This time’s theme is here!
How to make delicious tea.
Have you ever wanted to make delicious matcha tea and wondered how to do it?
I was once asked by someone who was interested in tea ceremony:
“To be frank, could you just tell me how to make delicious matcha tea?”
Upon hearing that, I thought it was a very good question.
When considering the various teachings and etiquette of tea ceremony as a whole, one could say that it is ultimately a path to perfecting the art of making delicious matcha. That is my personal belief.
Everyone would like to make the ultimate cup of tea.
I believe that even those who practice tea ceremony daily are striving to make the best matcha today than they did yesterday.
I too always strive to make delicious matcha while preparing tea during my practice sessions.
There is no end to the study of tea ceremony.
I think that there are very few people who can claim to have truly mastered tea ceremony, no matter how many years they have practiced it.
Although I always prepare tea with the intention of making it delicious, I still reflect on each session and think about what I could have done better.
Ichigo ichie.
*Ichigo ichie. (This is a Japanese phrase that means “one time, one meeting” and is often used in the context of tea ceremony to convey the importance of treasuring each encounter and experience as a unique and fleeting moment.
The phrase “ichigo ichie” is often used in tea ceremony to describe the unique and fleeting nature of each encounter, and it can also be applied to the making of matcha.
No matter how hard you try, it is impossible to make the same matcha twice. I believe this is true for everything, including matcha.
In this situation, the only thing to do is to strive wholeheartedly to make the best cup possible.
There are certain points to be careful about.
As mentioned in the previous article, it is important to prevent moisture and oxidation during storage, and to sift the matcha to make it smooth and easy to use before making a cup.
Other points to keep in mind include:
- Properly warming the tea bowl
- Thoroughly wiping the tea bowl
- Spreading the tea leaves evenly
- Adding hot water carefully
- Mixing the tea with your entire arm rather than just your wrist.
Summary of the day

I am looking forward to seeing you again.
